What on earth?

So this is from Hawaii...yes, I am only just now getting to play with Hawaii pics. :) I need to know what that animal is...anyone have any ideas? We saw several that ran across the road and I have a guess, but I'm not sure...what do you think?

PS - I am getting really good at picking the right Japanese buttons...it is kind of a challenge. LIke taking out the garbage...just ask Josh! ;)
