Call from Boot Camp

We talked to Jay for the first time in six weeks! He earned a phone call because he got some answer right. I think he said he found the exact date that the first marine got awarded a medal of honor. Anyhow, it got him a five-minute phone call. He said he's having good days and bad days. This week was a good week, but the pull ups are a problem for him. He qualified in the obstacle course and part of the swimming. Next they go on a long hike with all their equipment to the rifle range. He's down to 220 lbs., for all those who are in the pool. (We're betting on what weight he'll be at graduation...) He's been in the gas chamber, too. He said that was "wild." He loves getting letters, and needs cough drops (like Halls). We could hardly understand him because he has no voice. He asked us to pray for "general strength."

Senior Airman

I must admit ignorance here as I am confused at how Trace became a Senior Airman without being a pilot. Is an airman anyone who goes up in the planes?

Trace's mailing address

I sent a card off to Jay today. That reminded me to put Trace's address here:

SrA Trace Lambert
386 AEW/43rd EECS
APO AE
09855

I thought I had his correct email address, but a post to that came back as undeliverable. Jennie tells me he still uses "nail_bunny_333@yahoo.com"

This also points out that Trace is now a Senior Airman. That is an E-4 classification, just below Staff Sergent in the Air Force ranking. This is a promotion from his previous rank of Airman First Class.

Farewell to the Polaceks

From the Gizzly Growler

With heavy hearts we bid farewell to our beloved George and
Joanne Polacek, who are allowing God to move them to Florida.
George will serve as the Family and Court Mediation Specialist
with the Florida State Supreme Court system in Palm Beach
County. There will be big shoes to fi ll as they have served the
Grace family in so many ways. Remember them in prayer as
they make the transition and begin this exciting chapter in their
lives.
With their departure, Grace will look for any and all applicants
(with at least a BA degree) who have a knowledge and passion
for God’s Word and who will love teaching our senior and
freshman Bible classes. We will also interview for a school
secretary. Interested and qualifi ed applicants are encouraged to
contact Jane Trevithick (868-1203) as soon as possible!

Got a note from the Marine Recruit

Jay finally sent us a note - He said it's not bad so far. He's been "quarterdecked" a few times and sent to "the pit" once. Whatever that means. He asked us to send him vitamin c and potassium pills - and to give out his address, because he doesn't have a lot of time to write. So if anyone has a chance, shoot him a note. The address is on the blog from Oct 25. Oh, and he didn't get the intel job learning a language for right now. He switched to electronics/commuincations, which he hopes will have him working on satellites or something. He can switch to intel later. The drill instructor said they will be in the gas chamber this week. Hmmmmmm......
