Hey y'all...I thought I had posted some stuff in
Saipan but
apparently I was clicking the wrong Japanese (yep...blogger was in Japanese in
Saipan too...must be my computer) buttons...Luckily it saved them anyway so I posted them.
I went to
Saipan with several people from school...10 of us in fact. We stayed at the Pacific Islands Club and it was a really nice hotel. They had a lazy river, water slides, great
snorkeling right from their beach, catamarans and kayaks, and one of those standing wave machines. I arrived late on Wednesday (actually early Thanksgiving) and we hung around the hotel all day Thursday. I was happy to find that they had a Thanksgiving buffet with yummy turkey and gravy. On Friday we went out for breakfast and did some sightseeing. Monica used to live in
Saipan so she showed us her school and then we went back to the hotel and played.
On Saturday we went
snorkeling in the morning and then I got to do two dives in the afternoon. The fish were plentiful...and some were fish I had never seen before. On Sunday I rented a moped to explore the island and it was lots of fun...until I got stuck in the mud...several times. I had turned around after nearly falling in the first mud hole, but the guy behind me said that the road ahead would be fine and that I was mo
re than halfway through. He said he would follow me to make sure I got through. So I kept going...and going...and getting stuck...and slipping and sliding and getting dirtier and dirtier and by the end I was WAY tired and bruised and
aggravated because when we got to the end it was too muddy to go up the last hill to the paved road and we had to go back. I was about to punch Mr. Keep-Going-You-Are-Almost-Out until he offered to ride the moped out and let me drive his car back. So that's what we did. The moral of the story is that if you think you should turn around, that is probably the best idea!
That night when I returned the moped I did a little shopping and was hurrying to catch the bus and didn't see some steps and blammo...fell and hurt my ankle. It puffed all up and is still swollen almost a week later. Oh well...it was worth it!
PS - I posted more pics on
flickr and clicking the post title will take you to them. :)
